Guidelines On Choosing Custom Printed Photo Frames

By Joseph Young

An elegant artwork needs to be prominently displayed. When the artwork is put in custom printed photo frames, it improves its look and extends its life as well. Mounting and framing photos in a well-designed combination of both the frame and mat forms part of the visual expression of the displayed image, separating it from the surrounding environment and increasing the weight of its visibility. Whenever you are buying a frame or mount of any said photo you should consider the discussed guidelines below.

Photo frames are categorized into two types namely; wooden and metallic. Wooden frames are cheaper than metallic. They are stylish, offer greater variety of different presentation, from clean modern lines to intricate textured borders. In contrast, metallic frames are clean and give a sharp look of the display. On the same, the metallic ones are stronger and narrower than wooden. A metallic frame provides a modern look as well.

On the same, you have to select an appropriate mat board for your frame. This is a material that is put beneath the image, specifically between your glass and the frame. It creates space which prevents the artwork from sticking to the frame directly. As a result, you preserve the value of your image and make it last longer. Besides, the resulting boarder from the mat board makes your artwork highly visible and clear.

Furthermore, there are three decisions to take when it comes to matting. They include quality, layers and colors to use. Grade determines how well that mat material will preserve the artwork over a long period of time. Preservation is dictated by the acidity level in the mat. The more the acidity the quicker the mat material will deteriorate.

Layers are put on each other on the frame of the artwork. They usually lie between the frame and the photo. This exercise should be carried meticulously and by professional framers or photographers. This layer creates a space between the frame and the image so that both cannot stick together. When you do not allow this space in the frame, they become worn out easily and the image loses its stylish appearance.

Mats have various shades of color. They can be black, white, gold, silver or rainbow. It is advisable to use neutral borders as opposed to bold or highly contrasting ones. This makes your artworks to have classy look. This is admirable to you and other viewers as well.

On the same, mounting exercise should also be carried out professionally. Mounting prevents the printed image from warping and buckling. When an image is mounted it can be easily handled with no possibility of being damaged. Similarly, mounting protects the artwork from being damaged by severe weather thus preserving it for a longer period.

Likewise, you have to choose the best suitable glazing material. Glazing is the process that it is carried on your frame to prevent it from being damaged by any surroundings. These processes include; ultraviolet, antiglare, standard and combination of ultraviolet and antiglare.
