Having friends in the office or on your workplace provides you with a helping hand in case you got piled up with paper work or too much work. Furthermore, friends at work can give you healthy criticisms that can further enhance your skills and can help you achieve your goals. Likewise, friends can help you when you are down emotionally. And of course, friends at your place of work will push you to your best to achieve what you desire.

The question however is, how do you earn this good friends at your workplace? Here are a few tips with regard to making friends in your office whether its your first job or if you are an old timer.

First impressions last

A basic technique in getting to know people as well as in making them remember who you are. The moment you are introduced to a new colleague, be sure to give a great good impression. Having to do well in your first meeting will draw other people?s interest toward you which makes them think that you are approachable thus a friend material.

A part of this first step is remembering people's names as you are introduced. Remember the names will make it easier for you to approach these people.

Join lunch groups

As workers go to their lunch breaks in groups, you can join in and try to make friends with them. If co-workers would invite you, be sure to go - never refuse as doing so would mean you are not interested in making friends. This is also the only time at work when workers will be free to unwind and relax as well as do anything they want. This is a chance for you to talk about yourself and the things that you have in common with your co-workers.

Open mindedness

Unfortunately, not all people in the work neighborhood will be willing to take you in as a friend. For this, a good amount of open mindedness would be essential. Being open-minded, try to know or find out why you are disliked and thus try to make an effort to reinforce that. Not only will you be able to deal with indifference at work but can make your sense of leadership as well as your ability to deal with negativity radiate.

Don't rush making friends

Lastly, making real friends take time. A real friend is not someone you can find within a day. However, it shouldn't take you about a year to actually make one. Never a rush to making friends with other people - just let it flow and enjoy yourself.
